Area 10-- renamed Area J by 1940, was the Area Territory that included lodges in Illinois and most of Indiana.
By Dec. 1942, it was divided into four new areas: L, M, N, and O. Meanwhile, lodges in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida were split off from Area H to become the new Area J.

In 1944, lodges in South Carolina, and northern Georgia were used to form Area Z.
