The Region Director, the Area Directors, and other Region Staff will be meeting in June to finalize changes to each of the areas in the Western Region. This change has been brought about by the elimination of the Metro Division. Currently, the Metro Councils function within their own division and other than a few program areas like the Order of the Arrow do not currently work directly with the Area Directors. With the dissolution of the Metro Division, these metro councils will become a full part of their respective areas. Obviously, this is going to create an imbalance in the responsibility and work requirements for the area directors so it will be necessary to change the boundary of each area to make administration easier. Unfortunately this will affect the sections and the lodges in the Western Region as it will result in changes in some of our section configurations.

At this time, and until the meeting in June is compete, we do not know how many and which sections and lodges are going to be affected. A plan of action for the process of making these changes has been written and is currently in use in the other regions. As soon as it is finalized, this plan will be distributed to all section advisers and the Region Committee. It is the intension that whatever changes take place, they will not have a negative affect on any youth officers.
