1993 CR Realignment 1973 East Central Region Section Operation Twelve Regions (1950-72)



Effective Jan. 1, 1973, the New Section Operation consolidated the Twelve Regions into Six. The new regions were divided into areas and subdivided into sections. It was at the new sectional level that lodges participated in annual conclaves.

Ohio, West Virginia, parts of Virginia (Appalachian Council) and Kentucky (Dan Beard, Scioto Area, Tri-State Area councils) from Region 4, Region 7 (not including Piasa Bird, Okaw Valley, Egyptian, Cahokia Mound councils from Illinois), plus Northeast Iowa Council from Region 8 were combined to form the new East Central Region.

  • Papakitchie 142 (Pioneer Trails Council #155, Elkhart, IN) is split between two councils.

    • Part (or half) merged with White Beaver 182 (Tri-Valley Council #165, South Bend, IN), and She-Sheeb 452 (Pottawattomie Council #731, Michigan City, IN) to form Sakima Lodge #573, of the Northern Indiana Council #165 in South Bend, IN.

    • The other part (or half) was absorbed by Kiskakon Lodge #75 (Anthony Wayne Area Council #157, Fort Wayne, IN)

  • Jibshe Wanagan 79 (Grand Valley) and Nakida-Naou 401 (Timber Trails) merged to form Nacha Tindey Lodge #25.

  • Part of Nacha-Mawat 373 (Sabine Area Council #578, Kalamazoo, MI), including Cass County and a southern portion of Berrien County, were transferred to Sakima Lodge #573 (LaSalle Council #165, South Bend, IN)

  • Piankeshaw merged into Arrowhead Council in 1991. The new council, which used the temporary name "Illiana," was by 1992 called Prairielands Council #117 in Champaign, IL.

  • Ketchikeniqua 238 and Eagle Creek 382 merged to form Mawat Woakus Lodge #449.

    • Shawnee (Ketchikeniqua 238) and Put-Han-Sen Area (Eagle Creek 382) merged to become Black Swamp Area Council #449 in Findlay, OH.

  • Scaroyadii 472 is absorbed by Sipp-O Lodge #377.
