On September 19th, it was announced that Crater Lake Council and Oregon Trail Council had both recently voted to approve a merger between the two councils. Leaders also discussed and proposed names for the new council.

A map of the new council boundaries was posted on Oregon Trail Council's Facebook page. However, this only show counties in Oregon, and Crater Lake Council also included counties in California. While district maps shown on Nevada Area Council's website appear to show Modoc County as being part of its Zephyr District, a Sep 19th post by Daniel Washburn, Pacific Rivers District Commissioner on Crater Lake Council Facebook page confirms otherwise:
"Last night the Crater Lake and Oregon Trail Councils approved motions to merge into a new southwestern Oregon Council. As part of that merger, the California portions of the Council are being transferred to California-based Councils, with Humboldt and Del Norte Counties joining Golden Gate Area Council (Pleasanton) and Siskiyou and Modoc Counties joining Golden Empire Council (Sacramento)."
This is a rather interesting arrangement, as this would seem to create a non-contiguous Golden Gate Area Council.
Only more recently was the new name and merger date officially announced: Pacific Crest Council. The announcement did not include the council number or the location of the council headquarters.
Effective: Oct 1, 2024
